Abstract art is merely the reduction or simplification of an idea, an emotion, a feeling or a subject to the compositional elements of color, line and form. Color is used to evoke an emotional response from the viewer. The use of line gives the mind something familiar to work with. Think of a childs stick figure drawing of the family, the stick figures look nothing like the actual people, yet we can still recognize mom and dad. The abstract artist uses color and line to create the form of the artwork. In this show, Metamorphosis, I use color and line to create the forms of nature and life as it is constantly changing. A seed the moment it sprouts, a bloom thru its life cycle, whips of smoke that tendril on a gentle breeze. Life has so much movement to it, it is never static but constantly changing.
